Alastair Kellock is moving to Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors have announced the signing of Scotland lock Alastair Kellock.

The 24-year-old second row forward, who is originally from Bishopbriggs, joins the Warriors in a transfer from city rivals Edinburgh Gunners on a two year deal.

Alastair, who has won eight caps for Scotland, becoming a regular in the side in this season’s RBS 6 Nations, won his first cap as a replacement against Australia in 2004. He said: "I've played all my professional rugby with Edinburgh and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. In particular, working alongside some really experienced international locks like Scott Murray and Todd Blackadder has given me a wealth of knowledge and really helped my game.

"When the chance to make this move back through to Glasgow came about, I thought it would be a good opportunity to expand my game with a new club and offer me a whole set of new challenges. I'm really looking forward to it."

Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen added: "We're delighted to welcome Ally to Glasgow. Anyone who watched the 6 Nations this year will have seen how far his game has come over the past couple of seasons and I'm sure he will play a leading role in a pack we are looking to strengthen considerably for next season."

ALASTAIR KELLOCK Lock. Born 14.6.81. Height: 6ft 8in. Weight: 17st. School – Bishopbriggs High. Alastair David Kellock made his first 6 Nations start in Scotland's victory over the French at Murrayfield in February 2006. He made his senior Scotland debut in the non-cap tour game against Queensland Reds on the 2004 summer tour of Australia and followed that by coming on as a replacement in the games against New South Wales Country and New South Wales Waratahs. He went on to gain his first cap in the opening match against Australia at Murrayfield in the 2004 Abbey Autumn Tests, coming on as a replacement and repeated that pattern as he won his second cap against Romania in the summer of 2005. He has twice toured New Zealand on representative duty. On the first occasion, in 1999, he was part of the Scottish Youth tour, while his second trip was with the Glasgow Thistles in 2000. Kellock has represented Scotland at under-19 and under-21 levels and remains attached to the Scottish Institute of Sport. He played his club rugby initially with Allan Glen's before moving to Stirling County from where he was awarded his professional contract with Edinburgh.

Fantastic signing for Glasgow, shows some real ambition, good to see him coming back home to the West, was a cracking prospect in his younger days at Allan Glens lets hope we can see him fulfill his potential at Glasgow.

have to admit very biased having known him since he played mini rugby but think we have signed a player who never takes a backward step and just what our pack needs

Now I see why they aren't interested in Grimes. This is great news.
