John Barclay has signed a two-year deal
Glasgow flanker John Barclay has pledged his future to the Warriors by signing a two-year full-time deal.

John, who will travel to France with the Scotland Under-21s for the IRB World Championship, has been with them for the past season on an apprentice contract but has been upgraded to a full-time contract following his first season as a professional player.

John said: "My first year was tough as I was pretty inexperienced coming into senior rugby straight from school but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has been really beneficial to my game.

"The professional, day-in day-out training shows when we play, for example, for the under-21s when guys like myself, John Beattie and James Eddie can bring the elements we've learned at the club to assist the guys who are not playing rugby professionally.

"Working with such experienced and talented players like Jon Petrie and Donnie Macfadyen has also been great for my game and I'm looking forward to the coming season with Glasgow."

Stevie Gemmell, National Rugby Academy (Glasgow) coach, said: "It's reward for all the effort and hard work John has put in over the past season, especially since he's come back from quite a serious injury [pelvic]. His commitment and personal development have helped him to succeed and he's gained the maximum benefit from the support available to him. He is testament to the fact that the system works and the rewards are there for those who are willing to work hard."

Sean Lineen added: "John has a lot of potential. He's a dynamic player and we're looking for him to build on what he's already achieved this season.
