Alastair Kellock will skipper Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors have announced that their captain for the forthcoming season will be Scotland lock Alastair Kellock.

Al signed for the Warriors this summer and is looking forward to the challenge:

"It's going to be a great experience. We've made some really good signings over the summer and we're all hoping to compete well next season. We're all focussing on the future and doing our best for Glasgow. I'm very keen that we focus on Glasgow itself – the players supporting the city and the city supporting the players. We will be doing our very best and I would appeal to the public in Glasgow to get behind us. I'm really looking forward to first outing with the team at Sunday's Touch Tournament at Whitecraigs and hope a lot of folk come along, meet the team and support the club for the start of the new season."

Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: "Alastair is a very ambitious person. I have been very impressed by how he has conducted himself in pre season and have no doubt that he will have the full support of all the players and management. He is a talented rugby player who wants to see Glasgow do well and for every player to have pride in the jersey. Leadership was identified as an area we can strengthen through the team and I am delighted with the growing number of leaders we have."

The Warriors are currently taking part in a pre-season training camp on the West coast at sportscotland's National Centre at Inverclyde. The impressive multi-sport venue provides state of the art equipment and facilities for the team with the added bonus of being able to stay in the on-site accommodation. As well as fitness and skills sessions, the players will also be taking part in team-building tasks in preparation for the new season.

thought he might be. I think its a good call. He really stepped up to the mark in Cardiff when Murray was sent off, making the lineout calls.
The squad looks promising, I'm getting optimistic again!

Wow, not played for the Warriors before and straight in a Captain? He is a very capable player and I have no doubt that he shall step up and make a fine captain but it is a lot of extra weight on his shoulders.
GOOD LUCK AL!
