The search for a home goes on

Gordon McKie is still looking for a home for Glasgow Warriors
Today's Herald reports that the SRU have admitted they are struggling to find a home for Glasgow Warriors just days ahead of the new season.

Gordon McKie, The SRU's chief executive, apologised to supporters for the uncertainity, after having previously said that a decision could be expected by the end of last week.

With the Warriors opening pre season friendly against Mosely due to take place at Whitecraigs on Friday afternoon, McKie said: "We realise it is fustrating for supporters to not yet know where the Warriors will be playing their games. However, it is important we make the right decision as we all want the best for the team. The complexity of the situation is not helped by the lack of suitable facilities in and around Glasgow."

While that has led to an extensive search, any move outside the Greater Glasgow area has never been likely since it would represent a betrayal of supporters who have stayed loyal to the team.

In a poll conducted on this website last week, more than 95% indicated opposition to travelling further afield.

Falkirk might be more preferable than playing at 4pm on a Friday when no one can actually get to watch them play. Personally I would like to see them back at Hughenden

There are so few options, it can't be that difficult to decide! lack of suitable facilities or lack of suitable money to pay for them? ...come on, just make a decision and let's get on with it!...so, is it Hughenden or Firhill? ;)

I think the problems highlighted in the feature "venue worries continue for Glasgow" shows just how difficult a situation it is. It further highlights the shocking lack of facilities for rugby in the city. Another reason why Scotstoun needs to go ahead.

Why not Hampden? If Hughenden is unavailable. Just not Falkirk or Stirling or anything daft like that!
