Cardiff Blues were first subdued and then overrun as Glasgow Warriors claimed a fine Magners League win.
Minus several international players, rested ahead of next week's RBS 6 Nations opener, it was a victory that signalled how much confidence has grown in their camp during a period that has seen them lose just one of their past nine home matches. Sean Lineen, their coach, described this as one of the most satisfying performances since he took over.
"We always said this period between the autumn Tests and the Six Nations was a key part of the season for us," he said. "To come through those eight games with six wins, a draw and just one defeat is an exceptional effort.
"We now have only three matches in the next two months because of the Six Nations, so we are looking to arrange an extra game during that period, but the players know all we've done is establish a base to build on in the latter part of the season."
