Colin Shaw got on the scoresheet for Scotland
Scotland will have to settle for the bowl quarter-finals in the IRB Sevens in New Zealand, after losing to England and Samoa and defeating Papua New Guinea.

The Scots fell to a 33-12 defeat to the English - Glasgow winger Thom Evans and Colin Shaw scored Scotland's tries in the defeat.

Scotland were then pipped 31-26 by Samoa to drop down into the bowl competition. Thom and Colin scored again with Scott Forrest and Ben Addison getting Scotland's other tries.

The Scots recorded their first win of the Wellington Sevens against Papua New Guinea.

Having reached the half-way mark 5-12 down with only a single score from Border Reivers scrum-half Calum Cusiter to show for their efforts, the Scots came from behind to steal the victory.

Cusiter's Border Reivers team-mate Mark Robertson touched down along with Ben Addison to complete the comeback.

Head coach Stephen Gemmell said: "I'm really proud of the boys today. We set out to get a victory and they really dug deep to get it."

Scotland face Argentina in tomorrow's bowl quarter-final.

Its fantastic that Thom Evans along with all the Glasgow boys got scored. Shame that we lost but the Glasgow boys are making there stand!
