Earlier in the day Scotland faced New Zealand in the quarter-final of the cup competition. Despite being level at 14-14 at half time after Mike Adamson and Ross Rennie crossed, Adamson converting both, the Scots eventually went down 40-14 to the New Zealanders.
The Scots now sit in eighth place in the World Sevens Standing and will return home this week to begin preparations for the London Sevens on 26-27 May before they compete in the final leg of the Series at the home of Rugby Sevens, Scotland, in the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s on 2-3 June.
