Glasgow Hawks' Richie Gray in action for Scotland U18
Scotland made a disappointing start to the Six Nations U18 Festival at Burnbrae, Glasgow this afternoon as they lost out 15-6 to England.

The Scots only points came from two first-half penalties by stand-off Andrew White. You can read a match report here

Scotland head coach Colin Robertson said: "We had our spells, especially just before half-time, where we probably should have scored one of our two try chances. I was disappointed overall in our control at contact. We just weren't accurate enough and, as a consequence, were turned over a few times."

In today's other matches Wales defeated France 30-16 and Ireland accounted for Italy 22-5.

Meanwhile, Scotland Under-19 coach Peter Wright has made just one change from the side that narrowly lost 11-6 to France in the opening game of the IRB Under 19 World Championship in Belfast as his side prepares to face hosts Ireland at Ravenhill tomorrow (ko 7.30pm).

Wright brings Stewart's Melville FP's Murray Allan in at full back in place of Harry Duthie for this match. Wright said: "Murray has a good boot on him and bringing him in will give us options for this game because we know kicking will play its part in the match. It's good to have continuity at this stage but I'd like to give Murray an opportunity."

The match against Ireland is being covered by host broadcaster BBC Northern Ireland and will be shown live on digital television channel 992.

Scotland U17 had to find extra resolve to protect their unbeaten record with a 16-11 win over Wales in the U17 International Tournament at Millfield, Somerset, yesterday.

Playing their third match since Tuesday, the young Scots staved off thoughts of any fatigue, fighting back from 3-6 down at half time to finish the tournament with a 100 per cent record.

"We probably went into today's game expecting to win and that hasn't happened very often for age-grade teams in Scotland," said assistant coach Bryan Easson.

Scotland's only first-half points were from a penalty by stand-off Andrew Lundie.

The second half saw Ross Aitken land two penalties and the conversion of Craig Owenson's try, while Wales scored a penalty and a late try.

From the SRU report "a traditionally elephantine English side" ..sums it up, but we had our chances and didn't take them...

But the u-17s did take their chances. Penalised out of the game in the first half, they took the game to the Welsh bigtime in the 2nd. Pick and drive, pick and drive, made yards each time. Scored an excellent try - the prop turned up where every good prop should be - on the winger's shoulder! Wales try was also well deserved in the end, coming from a Scrum 5, but they only got that far due to one of our mistakes - play to the whistle when you knock on!
Great game, great set of results, great team effort.
