Kelly makes his Glasgow debut in tonight's Magners League match with Munster at Firhill, and the backrow man thinks the Warriors can make a major breakthrough this season.
"We've got a lot of potential here," Kelly told The Herald. "We need to click as a team, but hopefully that's started in the first four games of the season. If we all start to play well we can become a force in this league."
And, on the subject of the Heineken Cup, Kelly thinks the Warriors should set their sights high.
"When you look at our group compared to, say, Edinburgh's, it's probably weaker and I don't see why we can't get through it," he said.
As just one of a number of new faces in the Glasgow squad Kelly says he's had no problems settling in with the Warriors: "I'm from the Borders and I've lived there my whole life so it's a new experience for me, but it's good to still be in Scotland, particularly with the strength of squad we've got.
"I know most of the guys anyway, but everyone's been very friendly and I feel I'm settled in so it's been good."
