French connection for Glasgow

Glasgow Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, will take his charges to Millau in France to take part in the XV Challenge Vaquerin as part of his pre-season plans.

The tournament, which runs from Sunday 3 until Saturday 9 August will see two British teams take on the best from the French Top 14.

The Warriors will travel with Sale Sharks to the tournament where French sides Perpignan, Montpellier, Beziers and Clermont lie in wait.

The tournament is in memory of France and Beziers prop, Armand Vaquerin, who won 27 caps for his country over a ten year period, lifting nine league titles with Beziers in the process.

The Warriors will play their games on the first and last day of the tournament with the opposition still to be confirmed for the two dates.

OK - so where the heck is Millou? Article would suggest near Bexiers but anyone got specific details?

Millau is the town famous for the new bridge/viaduct. It is north of Montpelier, east of Toulouse and west of Nimes. I think the Millou spelling is either a pet name of local spelling.

Go to that area about twice a year and very easy to get to.
Cheap flights from Prestwick to Girona or Marseille, hire a car, and toll road motorway all the way. Not sure about trains etc but think the service from Marseille probably quite good.
