Andy Newman is moving to Grenoble
Glasgow Warriors lock Andy Newman has signed for French club Grenoble.

The Welsh A cap has signed a two-year deal with the Pro D2 club.

Andy joined Glasgow in 2006 from The Ospreys and quickly became a popular figure with supporters.

His previous club rugby saw him lift Heineken Cup title with Northampton Saints in 2000 and the Celtic League title in 2005 with the Ospreys.

Best wishes to the big fella. He will be missed as will Newman, Snr.

A big round of thanks for Andy. He came to Glasgow with question marks over his commitment and work ethic. I think it can be safely said that he has proven those doubts to be without foundation. Some fantastic grafting performances from him over the last two seasons. My favourite being where he single-handedly kept the Glasgow pack together vs the Ospreys in the hurricane.

Best of luck Andy. You played a massive part in lifting the team from the bottom of the league and I'm sure the younger guys have learnt a lot from you. Cheers!

Yep-just before Andy joined, the Glasgow pack were a bit of a soft touch. He added much needed hardness & no nonsense ruggedness which clearly rubbed off on the rest. Since he joined, the pack have become a good, hard unit-he'll be missed. Good luck in France & thanks for the memories!!
