Glasgow have to set the tone

Sean Lineen wants Glasgow to set a positive tone
Glasgow Warriors coach Sean Lineen wants his players to replicate their end of season form and start the new Magners League campaign with a win on the road.

Glasgow take on Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade and he reckons a reckons victory in Wales will be crucial in terms of setting a positive tone for the campaign as a whole.

Sean told Sporting Life: "We lost in our last two warm-up matches against Bristol and Gloucester, but there were plenty of positives - particularly in defence.

"Now is the time to do the business. There has been a step up in intensity this week and now it is all about results.

"Last season, we surpassed expectations of the public and we now must hold the belief to keep that going.

"I am, however, realistic and when you see the strength of the squads at the likes of Leinster and Ospreys, it makes you think. But hey - bring them on!

"I just want to be better this season in everything we do. Every season is harder than the last and I'd like to think we now have the respect of teams in Ireland and Wales.

"We must establish consistency and that means having no passengers.

"If you stand still, you're dead in this game."

Sean added: "The Dragons match is very important because it can set a tone in terms of momentum and belief. If you lose, you have to spend time and energy regrouping.

"I am not for a minute expecting us to win 29 games this season and win the Heineken Cup.

But I am expecting us to be pro-active in all we do and improve on our fifth place."

Indeed well said... This season there is no place to hide for Glasgow, a settled squad capable of beating anyone on their day however need to make sure their day is slightly more often, starting on Friday.

Providing there isn't a runaway leader then Glasgow have to expect to be competing for the title come the last few weeks of the league. Still expect Ospreys to win but hey it would be nice to be involved.

If he wants the same roll from end of last season why does he change the capt. DP showed he likes to lead from the front (so did the players)!!
