Rumour mill in over-drive

Could Sean Lamont be back in Glasgow colours next season?
We're only halfway through the season but already the rumour mill is in over-drive on who could be joining up with Glasgow Warriors next year.

rugbyrugby.com claims Glasgow boss Sean Lineen is keen on making moves to bring the Lamont brothers, Sean and Rory, back to Scotland at the end of the season.

Both are out of contract in the summer and it's claimed they have been sounded out by Lineen about leaving their respective clubs, Northampton Saints and Sale Sharks.

In the Loop (Rugby Times) understand Sean, who has recovered from a career-threatening knee ligament problem, is considering his options and may fancy a chance to return north of the border.

But Lineen might not get so much joy out of his younger brother, Rory, who is also currently sidelined through injury.

He suffered severe ligament damage to his ankle during the Heineken Cup win over Montauban earlier this month and is set for four months out of action.

All indications are that the 26 year-old is looking to extend his deal and stay put at the Sharks for another couple of years.

Meanwhile, rugbyrugby.com also claims inside centre Rob Dewey, 25, is close to signing for the Warriors. The six-cap Scottish international is currently with Magners League rivals Ulster.

We'll see.

Dewey no - we've got enough big, 'bash it up the middle' centres as it is. It'd be nice to have Rory but I'm not so sure about Sean Lamont; can't help thinking that, his size apart, he no longer brings an awful lot to the table. However, it's not just players coming into the club - what about those who may be leaving and therefore replacements needing to be found?

I'd been keen to have all three, provided thay were an addition to the squad. Remember Dewey looked like the next best thing for Scotland before he went to Ulster and seemed to fade for some reason? Both the Lamonts have a lot to offer. Sean still has it, I'm sure .. not just size!

Fade? Matt Williams could be a reason.

When's Lomes contract up?

Who looked the best thing before he played for Scotland and then we discovered he couldn't defend for toffee.

And he still can't.

Where's the cash coming from. SRU Autumn receipts were lower than budgeted for.

It would be nice to get 2 old favourites back in the team. But can the SRU really afford them. Plus they seem to becoming very injury prone in the last few season. Can Glasgow carry them.
