Glasgow squad

Mark McMillan has been included in Glasgow's squad to face the Dragons
Glasgow Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, has been forced to name a 24-man squad ahead of Sunday’s Heineken Cup visit of Newport Gwent Dragons (ko 3.00pm) as his side continue to recover from a bruising 33-26 victory over Toulouse in France.

Reflecting on the landmark win, Sean said: “Last weekend’s game was a fantastic result for the club and I’m proud of the way the players responded to the call for a big performance, both from themselves and the fans.

“It was a very physical game which saw us lose another few guys through injury so that’s been a challenge this week as we look ahead to the visit of The Dragons.”

The Dragons return to Glasgow following their Magners League win over the Warriors just two weeks ago and Sean is adamant his charges must rid themselves of their bogey side in European competition if they are to mount a serious challenge for domestic honours.

“Our record against The Dragons is frustrating and something we really need to put right. The passion and aggression of the players was evident last week and we must carry that into this Sunday’s game if we’re to get the result we are all looking for.”

The final 22 will be confirmed via email before 12noon on Friday 23 January.

Is he being given a break before the Six Nations Starts?

JB has been excellent and deserves a break though I reckon he has been singled out for praise in many quarters because he plays for Scotland and people have heard of him. Kelly has done at least as well recently. Not to worry, Richie V and Calum Forester are strong replacements, and I see Stevie Swindall hasn't been loaned to Embra after all.

Slightly surprised the likes of Chris Kinloch, Richie Gray etc. aren't in as there's nothing much to lose. However, Richie Gray will probably be the backbone of the U20s (possibly quite literally given the length of it) so could well be aiming for that right now.

There is everything to play for in this match - European Ranking Points.Apart from the benefit of keeping the winning habit for future ML matches.

Agree-there are extra ranking points for finishing 3rd in group rather than 4th. Also, we MUST beat the Dragons at home!! For the sake of momentum this is a game Glasgow have to win.

Previous comment from AJPatterson 'as there's nothing much to lose'.

How many ways can I disagree with you? Too many to list! So much to play for!

Agreed - if nothing else, we need to finally get rid of the "bogey team" tag that allows them to keep slipping us up!!
