Posted by ballinj on February 3, 2009 10:06 AM | Reply to this comment Do we really need another inside centre? I would of thought back up to Max would of been more important, as well as Full back and wingers given that a large number of them are reaching the end of their careers. Posted by s153 on February 3, 2009 10:19 AM | Reply to this comment Lineen must think so. Dewey has been a disaster with Ulster, seems to have gone backwards, so I don't think it is a good move for us. Posted by MMcEwan on February 3, 2009 11:43 AM | Reply to this comment Agree about Dewey but can't ever see Shawzy getting much of an extended run at FB so long as Bernie's around. Posted by bossco85 on February 3, 2009 11:50 AM | Reply to this comment Im not sure what we are signing Dewey for? We need an inside center that can pass, is quick and strong, if Morrison can learn how to pass a ball we will be sorted. Shawzy is a good player, i rate him highly but I wood rather have Bernie back there, maybe give Shaw a run on the wing? Posted by ballinj on February 3, 2009 11:53 AM | Reply to this comment perhaps Henderson has decided to look elsewhere now he is no longer 1st choice but if not then it is a strange move going for Dewey Posted by AJ Patterson on February 3, 2009 01:48 PM | Reply to this comment Hope the Hootsmon is wrong about Rory Lamont as he would make a lot more sense and would by all accounts be more settled in Glasgow. If he can get over his injury problems he could potentially cover several positions on the field. Posted by MMcEwan on February 3, 2009 04:43 PM | Reply to this comment Completely agree. Rory would be a fantastic addition to the side and it would be the 'common sense' move for all parties. Would certainly be a better option at 14 than Lome. At least Rory can tackle, after all... Posted by Moody Blue on February 3, 2009 07:13 PM | Reply to this comment So, nobody is very sure about Dewey coming to Glasgow. OK. But do you think it will do him any good, if he does come, to have all this negativity surrounding him? Realistically, what we say on here, is not going to sway Sean Lineen one way or another...but it might effect Dewey's confidence to perform. Yes, he hasn't had the biggest impact in Ulster - but then there are quite a few Scottish players who haven't had 'a big impact' playing under Matt Williams. Remember it's no more than 18 months since he was causing carnage in the Magners League with his sheer power, and was touted as the next big thing. You have to trust the coach - maybe Henderson or Morrison is on the move, and we need a replacement; maybe he wants to use Dewey as cover for Evans at 13...we don't know, so why don't we just wait and see. Whoever wears a Warriors shirt is a better player if he plays with confidence; and confidence grows when you know you're wanted and loved. Posted by Alan on February 3, 2009 10:40 PM | Reply to this comment Moody, I don't know about "wanted and loved" and "trust the coach" .. (given that he is under the influence of SRU and may not be able to make the decisions he would like anyway) .. but Glasgow fans have a good record of supporting players coming in no matter what the opinion was before signing. If it happens, it will be up to him to earn the respect of the supporters by his performance on the field. Posted by Derek on February 3, 2009 09:09 PM | Reply to this comment Rob may not be the exact fit we are looking for as we do need strengthing in other areas. However he is a good player and will provide depth in the Centres, which if we are going to make a go and making the ML playoffs next year we are going to need more than 15 good players! With Rob and Chris onboard we now have serious options in those positions. However I feel we need some power up front, coming in the form of a new prop and a second rower. Posted by neilmacd74 on February 3, 2009 09:50 PM | Reply to this comment I'd assume possibly Henderson is moving on as he hasn't been an automatic pick this season. Dewey surely can't be seen as a certain starter although he will put a bit of pressure on G-Dog for the inside centre slot. Mind you he is a big lad so is there not maybe an option to convert him to play in the pack? :) Posted by AJ Patterson on February 4, 2009 08:56 AM | Reply to this comment This is probably a good time for Muffles to move on and possibly earn himself a payday. There are some English and French teams that need to strengthen their centres and he really hasn't played that badly this season when he has come on. If so, Dewey would then start to make all sorts of sense. Ulster haven't really been playing with a "power" inside centre as there has been a shuffling job trying to fit Paddy Wallace, Andrew Trimble and Darren Cave into the team. So Dewey wouldn't really fit into that, esp as Wallace has settled in so well at 12. But the Glasgow system now seems to be big man inside, small fast guy outside, so he might work better in that. Posted by aldo on February 6, 2009 04:43 PM | Reply to this comment I think the way Lineen has treated henderson has been a bit of a joke - keeping him on the bench for full matches or giving him 2 or 3 minutes at the end of games. This is a guy who is atleast as good as morrison albeit morrison is playing with confidence at the moment and henderson is not being given the chance. I think if Henderson is on the move then it will be solely down to the way he has been treated by lineen. Posted by AJPatterson on February 6, 2009 11:33 PM | Reply to this comment Muffles has had bad luck with injury this season as well. I agree he has been good when he has come on, but he has a broken finger right now so may not play that much this season. Unfortunately. He is a good player - poss his best game this season was for Scotland A against Georgia when he was excellent.
