Colin made his first appearance of the season as a second-half substitute in Sunday’s Magners League defeat at Newport Gwent Dragon.
Colin told the Evening Times: “It is great to be back in at nine and, hopefully, I can get a decent run of games under my belt.
“Obviously I have played at stand-off and full back as well as scrum-half for Glasgow, but nine is where I have played most of the time. I see that as probably my best position.
“When you miss out on the start of any season due to injury it is frustrating. With the side and the squad being so young, and with so many experienced guys out, I think that has affected the consistency in our first two games.
“But the great thing for me is that at scrum-half you are in the thick of the action and seeing plenty of ball and that is why I love playing there.
“At 29, I have a fair bit of experience behind me and hopefully I can use that to help provide a steadying influence.
“But I know how important it is going to be for me to provide decent quick ball for the backs and I am looking forward to that challenge.”
John Barclay returns to the back row and Colin stressed the importance of the flanker's return to Glasgow pack.
He said: “John has been an absolutely outstanding player for us over the last couple of seasons and a huge influence.
“To get him back in ahead of schedule with the likes of Al Kellock and Johnnie Beattie still out is great.
“We know what an aggressive pack Connacht have and we have done a lot of work on the set-piece and in the contact.
“Our pack are a proud bunch of lads and their pride has been hurt. They are determined to come out on top tonight.”
