Young Warriors learning fast

Graeme Morrison could feature in the match with Aironi
Glasgow coach Sean Lineen says his Warriors can take plenty of positives from the last-gasp defeat to Ulster at Firhill last Friday.

South African internationalist Ruan Pienaar scored all the points for the big-spending Irish province, including a last-minute penalty to undo a gutsy, but youthful Warriors side.

Sean told the Evening Times: “The boys gave me absolutely everything and they are getting better with every game and learning from their experiences.

“Young guys like Robert Harley and Ryan Wilson are just getting better with every game, while I was delighted for Ryan Grant to get his try.

“It has been a very difficult season due to injuries and, although that has meant we have had to blood more of our young players than has been ideal, there will be big positives for next season.”

“I would hope we will have Graeme Morrison back for the trip to Aironi and that will be a huge boost. His leadership in the back line and all his other qualities have been badly missed.

“I feel it was very harsh for us only to get the losing bonus point and, ultimately, the decisions and errors of two individuals have cost us a win over an Ulster side stocked with world-class talent and that is frustrating.

“But we are improving. The defence was outstanding and that is an area we’ve been working on. So we can take a lot of positives from that going to the Stadio Zaffanella on Saturday.”

Max Evans, who is nursing ankle-ligament damage, and skipper Alastair Kellock, who has a wrist injury, look likely to miss out.

The game in Italy may also come too early for John Barclay who is still nursing several knocks from Scotland’s Six Nations campaign.

Chris Cusiter is also still some way off a return from the knee injury that has kept him out all season.

It's understood Glasgow's focus for summer signings will be concentrated on adding more firepower to his back division.

Intereting comments. The players, as long as they are learning the positives and not just the losing habit, will be better off next season.

Trouble is is we suffer another round of injuries or pplaters leaving its will be back to square one.

The last line about adding firepower was also interesting. Is this an acknowledgement that goal kicking (or missing kicks) to approximately 21 points is not a fool-proof or consistent way to win games? Could also be a back up to when the forwards are under pressure by having the ability to score from anywhere & not jut 5 yards out bashing away at the line.

Don't we need a prop or two?? I'd have thought that was a higher priority than the back division - Pete Murchie is playing increasingly well and there are some really good youngsters coming through like Mark Bennett. Eh well, at least there is the possibility of some signings....

That last line is an interesting one, If it includes overseas players then i hope they're DTHs not Piosseks.

Watched Bennett in Stirling and though he may have pace he cannot read the game and cannot pass when guys are on his shoulder..not the ideal solution.

Sideliner...

The Scotland try came from a 40 metre bennett break where he picked out his support runner and delivered the ball perfectly. He did this throughout the game..By far the most dangerous attacking player on the pitch.

He was also praised by the opposition in every game this season.

What game were you watching?

I dont agree ... he maybe made a break but doesnt want to pass ... think folk like yourself hype the young guys up too much and put too much pressure on them ...related or coach by any chance.

I've watched Bennett since he was playing U13s at Cumnock, while he has progressed at a phenomenal rate I reckon he still needs another season with Ayr before progressing to the full time pros.

Remember this guy just turned 18 last month, there is time yet.

I have seen Bennett play since U13s at Cumnock ( my son is in same age group but another club).
He has always shown great promise and has progressed at a phenomenal rate, but he is not yet the finished article, I reckon he needs another season at Ayr before progressing to the full time pros.

You saw him at Stirling in an **U20s international** fixture, remember this guy only just turned ** 18 ** last month, there is plenty of time yet.
