Warriors prepare for Firhill farewell

Richie Vernon is moving to Sale next season
Glasgow's final home match of the season will give the Firhill faithful a chance to say thank you and goodbye to the Warriors who will be leaving the club.

The players moving on leave big boots to fill. It's already been announced that the old heads, Bernardo Stortoni and Kevin Tkachuk, will be leaving at the end of the season while it's emerged that another Glasgow favourite, James Eddie, hasn't been offered a new contract with the Warriors.

Aly Muldowney is moving to Exeter after just one season at Firhill but the big lock made a positive impact in his short time with Glasgow.

Max Evans is moving to Castres while Richie Vernon will be playing his rugby with Sale Sharks next season.

It's sure to be an emotional night at Firhill on Friday for both players and supporters - a point not lost on Richie Vernon. He told the Scotsman: "Personally, it's pretty emotional now to think that is my time in Glasgow coming to an end, and that Friday night will be the last time in front of the Firhill support. When I made the decision to leave it was sad, and I knew I would miss this place, but the prospect of a summer building up to a World Cup and then moving to Sale has been great to look forward to.

"Now, though, I think all the guys leaving are feeling quite sad because Glasgow has been good for all of us. Last season was great for the club and I would have hoped that we could have moved on this season, and although we haven't, I know that I have improved a lot as a player in my four years at Glasgow and feel that I've achieved a lot."

can't believe that Eddie is being let go. He was beginning to show signs of getting back to his best after a couple of seasons of injuries.

We can't expect a group of kids to take us anyway (as Arsenal are proving yet again), you need some players who have experience. Also it is wrong to have a squad of players of a similar age level, success clubs have players of differing age groups so that in any one year they are only losing 1 or 2 players whilst having established professionals to take up the mantel.

How many years of rebuilding are we meant to put up with??

Think its ridiculous that James is being let go. How can we expect to get back to next seasons form when players are being released and we have to keep starting all over again! Not fair on the fans or James himself!

McKie's garage sale cannot be allowed to continue. It's becoming clear that he sees no future in Pro rugby beyond 2014 and is cashing in. Richie V was effectively forced to look for a new club and Bernie, T and Jedi have been very harshly treated given the blood they've spilt for us over the past decade.

They'll hear our noise all the way over in EH12 tomorrow night
