In today's Evening Times, Ruaridh said: "Graeme has been at Glasgow for a long while and he is just one of these guys that you always look up to. It is a real shame that the knee injury has forced him to retire as, at 30, he still has so much to give to the game.
"But the nature of the sport is that it is very physical and contact means there is always a risk of injury and sadly Graeme's has caused him to retire. There is no doubt that the guys who are following in his footsteps will have a real challenge on their hands to live up to the standards he set in a Glasgow jersey.
"But as a group of players none of us will forget what Graeme contributed to Glasgow over the years."
