Adam Ashe has announced his retirement from playing
Former Scotland and Glasgow forward Adam Ashe has announced his retirement from rugby.

Ashe made his club debut in 2012 and went on to play 73 times for Glasgow before leaving in 2020 to play Major League Rugby with LA Giltinis in the USA.

Ashe's decision to call time on his playing career at 28 was made for him by the three bulging disks in his neck which saw him miss much of the 2022 season.

Ashe told the Giltini's official website he's planning to pursue a career in coaching.

"This would be a harder decision to finish up quite early if I wasn't so passionate about getting into coaching," Ashe said. "A lot of players don't know what comes next. I do and I'm pumped for it.

"I've already done some university-level coaching in the background with UCLA as a defence coach and with the forwards. I looked after the maul at the Giltinis for part of this season.

"The collision areas are what I'm interested in and I like seeing people do well. I've had some ongoing symptoms from the neck injury with some weakness in my right arm. After eight surgeries to the body in six years, it's time for a different direction."
