Supporters Club meeting with the SRU

Representatives from Glasgow Warriors Supporters club last night held a meeting with Scottish Rugby Union Personnel.

The meeting included Gordan McKie, Sean Lineen, three Glasgow players and Ian Riddoch, the Partick Thistle Chairman and Manager. Various members of the press were also present. It was a fairly informal meeting that allowed the Supporters Club to highlight some of the key concerns expressed by our members and the fan base as a whole since the announcement of the move to Firhill. The following points came out of the meeting:

  • A commitment to Friday Night Rugby (barring Heinken Cup fixtures and changes requested by Setanta to televise games)
  • A commitment to achieving a club atmosphere for fans at games
  • That Glasgow Warriors are looking into licensing regulations.

On the subject of stands the Supporters Club were asked the general feeling on where we wanted to sit and how many stands would be in operation. We informed Glasgow Warrior that the consensus from the fans was that we wanted at least two stands open and we were assured that the supporters opinion would be taken into account when making any decision.

All in all it was a positive meeting and the SRU have made an agreement to continue meeting with the Supporters club.
