May 02, 2014Benetton Treviso 16 - 38 Glasgow WarriorsGUINNESS PRO12 match played at Stadio Monigo on Friday May 2nd 2014 | No comments
![]() Tommy Seymour went over for three tries Glasgow Warriors kept their bid for a home PRO12 play-off on course with a win over Treviso at Stadio Monigo this evening. Three tries from Tommy Seymour and one from Gordon Reid gave Glasgow the bonus point win that means a win over Zebre at Scotstoun will secure a home semi-final. There was an even start to the encounter, with the first points not coming until 13 minutes in, when the two teams swapped penalty goals. On 21 minutes Tommy Seymour hacked forward the loose ball before racing 40 minutes to latch back onto it and score and exhilarating try, which Finn Russell converted. Matt Berquist responded with Treviso's second penalty of the evening, and added a third after Russell had responded in kind. Russell and Mark Bennett then hit six more Glasgow points between them on the stroke of half-time to make it 9-19 at the break. Seymour's second try at the beginning of the second half then put real daylight between the two sides, before Gordon Reid popped up out wide to score after some great offloading work from the Warriors. Tyrone Holmes was sent to the bin for offence close to the visitor's line but it didn't upset the Warriors as Seymour completed his hat-trick on the hour to settle the game as a contest following confirmation from the TMO. Russell converted two of Glasgow's three second-half tries to make it 9-38 with 20 minutes remaining. But though the game was over as a competition, with Glasgow's Robert Harley in the bin, Treviso found enough to cross for a consolation penalty try with barely two minutes remaining. James Ambrosini added the conversion, but it could not dent the Warriors' delight.
