In the aftermath of another disappointing Scottish result at Twickenham the BBC Radio Scotland commentary team turned their attention to the coaching situation at Glasgow.

John Beattie referred to the strong rumours that Boroughmuir coach, Sean Lineen, had been in talks with Glasgow about becoming backs coach at Hughenden next season. Gary Parker and Andy Nicol were unable to confirm if there were any foundations to the rumours but made it clear that they would view such an appointment as an exciting and positive move for Glasgow Warriors.

The current Glasgow backs coach, Steve Anderson, is reported to be moving to a position in the international setup. Kiwi Searancke has stated that he intends to appoint a Scottish assistant to help him with his backs section with the new man to be in place by the end of April.

Searancke said last month: "It would be fair to say I would not be looking too far out of Scotland. I see a part of my role to help develop a coach in Scotland. My first look will be to see who's around inside the Scottish system right now. I believe the credentials are they must have coached or been part of a coaching organisation at the top club level in Scotland." Sean Lineen would certainly seem to possess all these credentials.

Glasgow winger Jon Steel scored three tries but was still on the losing side as Jed-Forest went down 38-34 to Boroughmuir in the Integrated Tournament. Rory McKay and Andrew Wilson helped Aberdeen GSFP to a 48-29 IT victory over Melrose.
