Following the removal of Kiwi Searancke from the post of head coach at Glasgow, a number of the club's players have been left in limbo regarding their future. While verbal agreements have been made with some of the senior squad, others remain to be spoken to about their possible retention or release.
The delay is partly down to the fact that the club have yet to appoint their new coaching team, whose composition should have a bearing on both whether players want to stay with the club and whether the club wish to retain them.
The Scotsman reports that Hugh Campbell will join Sean Lineen to form the new Glasgow coaching team.
The report claims the appointment has the hallmark of a Jim Telfer decision. From a financial point of view, the move makes sense for the SRU. Campbell is a union employee already, and moving him to Glasgow avoids the need to hire a new head coach at great expense, which will help to offset the costs of paying off Searancke. It will also fuel speculation that the future of the Scotland A team may be in doubt.
