Gordon Simpson has admitted he could quit top-flight rugby. Despite having a year of his contract to run, there have been a number of reports that Simpson will be leaving Glasgow, and he revealed that he would almost certainly speak with chief executive David Jordan about an early departure.

The player - who has just returned from his native New Zealand where he recovered from a shoulder operation - said: "I might not keep on playing.

"The financial situation at Glasgow and in Scottish rugby as a whole is not as healthy as it might be and I am looking at lots of options.

"It is just a case of getting together with the Glasgow people and sorting things out."
