Plenty to build on for Glasgow

New Glasgow coaches Hugh Campbell and Sean Lineen took plenty of plus points from the defeat to Gloucester after a hard-working display from the Hughenden men.

Glasgow went down 28-12 with tries from Graeme Morrison and his former Glasgow Hawks teammate Colin Shaw. Colin is again part of Glasgow's back-up sqaud this season. Calvin Howarth weighed in with a conversion.

Hugh Campbell, Glasgow's new coach, was far from unhappy with the result. "Playing one of the top club teams in the world it was not disappointing to lose by three tries to two," he remarked. Campbell was also pleased with the way Glasgow absorbed pressure. "The defence was outstanding," he commented.

Campbell was disappointed that the lineout did not function well. "We didn't have enough possession," the coach remarked. "But when we did have it we were dangerous."

The match enabled the Glasgow coaches to blood a number of players in their first games in a Glasgow jersey. Glasgow's pre-season build-up continues with a challenge match against Newcastle Falcons next Friday at Hughenden (ko 7.30pm).
