Former Glasgow prop Gordon McIlwham is poised to sign for Irish side Munster in a deal that would last for the remainder of the season when he returns from next month’s World Cup.

Munster spokesman Pat Garrity said: "I can confirm we are talking with Gordon McIlwham and it is hoped a deal will be completed shortly."

Former Glasgow players Tommy Hayes and Ben Daly were in great form for Worcester as they defeated Orrell 40-14. Tommy struck four penalties and four conversions and both players are becoming big favourites with the Sixways faithful.

Joe Beardshaw and Chris Burchill turned out for GHA on Saturday and lined up against their Glasgow teammate Andy Wilson who was playing for Aberdeen GSFP. Aberdeen enjoyed a narrow 35-32 victory with Glasgow back-up squad member, Rod Seib, scoring two tries in the last few minutes. Prop Andy Kelly turned out for Ayr while Mark McMillan was at scrum-half for Stirling County. No 8 Alan Brown is back at Dundee HSFP after a short spell with GHA and celebrated his return to Mayfield with a try.
