Calvin Howarth has warned his Glasgow teammates not to get carried away with their Celtic Cup victory in Wales.
Calvin Howarth, who is at stand-off in the Glasgow team to play Connacht at Hughenden tomorrow (ko 7.30pm), has warned his teammates not to get carried away with their Celtic Cup triumph in Wales.

Calvin said: "It's nice to get a good result. But beating the Celtic Warriors is just one game. We do have to be careful that we stay focused.

"Connacht have beaten Edinburgh at home and the Borders away at Netherdale recently, so they will be no pushovers. But the team spirit we have here at Glasgow at the moment is very, very good. We have a lot of young fellows who have tremendous enthusiasm. As long as we keep our feet on the ground, we will be fine. The coaching staff has been stressing to us the need to take each game as it comes and last week is ancient history."

Calvin praised scrum-half Mark McMillan, who was drafted in at the last minute to replace the injured Kenny Sinclair. The 20-year-old from Stirling County keeps his place in the team after gaining plaudits from coaches Hugh Campbell and Sean Lineen.

Calvin agreed: "We kept things simple and did the basics really well last week and reaped the rewards. There were a few changes following the defeat against Ulster and the young lads came in and showed what they can do and deserve another chance. Mark played exceptionally well. He spoke to the pack all game and really got them going forward. That helped him relax and he actually saved us a couple of tries."

With the departure of Tommy Hayes, Calvin has been getting a regular start in the first team and feels that has helped his form. He admitted: "It is nice to get a few games under your belt and get a few good results."
