Scott Lawson was a well deserved man of the match
If you couldn't make it to the game last night, and even if you were there, set your video for Sunday, because you won't want to miss seeing two of the best tries to be scored at Hughenden in many a season.

With the visitors 11-6 ahead just before half-time, Sean Lamont ran the ball back to Ulster from fully 70 metres for a superb Glasgow try. If there is a more devastating runner in Scottish rugby at the moment, then I've not seen him.

Minutes later, with the fans still applauding Sean's effort, Glenn Metcalfe sent Rory Kerr down the right with Alan Bulloch taking Rory's well-timed pass to put Glasgow further ahead.

Glasgow's other try scorer, Scott Lawson, was a deserved man of the match with some outstanding play in the loose, but there were no failures in the Glasgow team. In Lawson, Euan Murray and Andy Kelly, we have young players who could be part of the Glasgow front three for seasons to come.

Big Nathan Ross continued his great form with another fine display in the loose and he was unbeatable on the touchline. Joe Beardshaw put in his usual hard working display and the backrow of Paul Dearlove, Donnie Macfadyen and Jon Petrie tackled everything that moved.

Graeme Beveridge again displayed just what a tough character he is, while Calvin Howarth showed composure in the hectic atmosphere to kick the points that ultimately made the difference.

Alan Bulloch is playing some great rugby at the moment and Graeme Morrison looked back to something like the form that made such a big impact in the opening games of the season.

Glenn Metcalfe showed just what a loss he is to the international team with his ability to create space for the elusive running of Rory Kerr and Sean Lamont.

After the game the faces of the players showed what a bruising encounter this was. Glasgow had to contend with the temporary loss of three players in quick succession, skipper Jon Petrie, centre Graeme Morrison and scrum-half Graeme Beveridge with blood injuries. , Sam Pinder, Lee Harrison and Dave Millard all came on at various points and all did their bit to keep Glasgow in the hunt.

Hughenden has been a happy hunting ground for Ulster over the last few seasons, but they always know they face a tough game in Glasgow. There was the usual big vocal support for the Ulstermen but they showed they can take a defeat in the same good spirit as their victories.

It's been a tough season for Glasgow, but their supporters have stuck by them through the low points making victories like last night's taste all the sweeter. If the team can continue to progress, then there will be far more ups than downs for Glasgow.

Scott "The Cube" Lawson gave as good a performance as I have seen from a Glasgow hooker in recent seasons. There are a group of his fans at the Hughenden Road end who have sung his praises for a while and maybe it's a case of the king is dead, long live the Cube!!!By the way I sincerely hope that the stupid female announcer gets a rocket for her comment about the ref not seeing the ball hit off Metcalfe's foot! What did he do? Penalise Glasgow and set up a very nervous injury time ( where did he get that amount of time?) Somebody should make her aware that Welsh refs haven't done us any favours and that kind of comment will just antagonise them. BACK TO THE KITCHEN SINK!!!
