"I will be getting physio twice a day and when I meet up with the national squad later on this week I will be going all out to prove my fitness ahead of the Italy game," said Cammy, adding: "The Scotland team is usually as good as selected by the Monday or Tuesday on the week of the game and so I have until then to get back into training and show I have fully recovered.
"I have been lucky throughout my career in that I have always managed to avoid a really bad injury. But I thought I had broken my ankle on Saturday. It is a massive relief it is not too serious.
"It was a very worrying moment for me. I basically grabbed Danny Grewcock and hauled him to the ground with a sort of judo throw. I have got long studs in my boots and my right foot stayed where it was in the turf and the rest of my body carried on. I heard a crack and my foot went numb. I thought it was broken for sure.
"I had enjoyed the whole week; the training, the build-up and the atmosphere at the game were all tremendous. The guys went into the game full of confidence and we felt good on the park.
"Personally, I was right up for it. Everything was going well and we were getting stuck right in about them and then I picked up an injury. "I thought the guys did really, really well. I would have loved to have been part of it."
