Glasgow announce squad for season 2004/5

Kenny Logan will be in Glasgow colours again
Glasgow announced their squad for season 2004/5 at a press conference in Glasgow this morning.

Former Wasps and Scotland wing, Kenny Logan, was unveiled as a Glasgow player. Kenny said: "The team needs experience and I can't wait to get started.

"I was very lucky during the seven years that I spent in London that we were used to winning things and I hope that we can get that winning mentality here at Glasgow.

"I'll definitely end my career at Glasgow. I won't play after this.

"I always feel it's important to be in the right place at the right time and I didn't want to come up here when I wasn't ready to come back.

"I want to be in Glasgow and playing for Glasgow and I won't be moving again after this."

Kenny also revealed he could have returned to Scotland as an Edinburgh player but insists the decision to join his former club was an easy choice to make.

The winger said: "I've always said that I want to put something back into the game up here and I feel what I've learned at Wasps over the last seven years and the success I've had means I can give Glasgow and the coaches some experience.

"There was some suggestion of Edinburgh but the SRU asked who I wanted to play for - Edinburgh or Glasgow - and I told them I wanted to play for Glasgow.

"I played for Glasgow before and they have real potential - Glasgow people are really into their rugby and they have a good support.

"The decision was quite easy in the end.

"It's going to be hard. There is no doubt that it's not going to be an easy task.

"The worst streak I had was losing five games in a row and we came second in the league that year.

"We should be winning 90% of our home games. If we win our home games then we'll be up there near the top of the league.

"There aren't many clubs in the Celtic League who are winning all their home and away games so we have to set little targets and try to be the best team in Scotland."

David Jordan, thinks that Kenny can make use of his vast experience in the Zurich Premiership and become a role model for young players at Glasgow. "Having someone with the profile of Kenny is a hugely exciting prospect," said Glasgow's Chief Executive.

"He is a marvellous role model for youngsters on the park and his high standing will also helpus develop as a professional club."

Canadian international prop, Kevin Tkachuk joins from PerTemp Bees, while Scottish international centre, Andy Craig, joins from Orrell. There remains one space to fill in the second-row.

With the departure of Glenn Metcalfe and Moffat">Stuart Moffat, there are no specialist full-backs in the Glasgow squad.

Coach, Hugh Campbell, suggested that Rory Kerr would fill the role, with others including Kenny Logan ready to step in if necessary.

Glasgow also introduced their apprentices for the new season while a back-up squad is expected to be named shortly.

For the less educated amongst us... "Jesus drank the wine and said 'it is finished!'. Then he bowed his head and died."

I always thought the King James Version read more poetically.

Ok, so Kenny didn't play that great for Scotland, but give the guy a chance and start to slate him if and when he plays poorly for Glasgow. Who knows, he may just be the experience that Glasgow needs. Don't write him off before he has even had a chance.

Totally agree - let Kenny prove himself like any new signing!

Haven't I been saying this from the first day it was announced he'd be coming to Hughenden?
