Glasgow Hawks' Steve Swindall will make his first start for Glasgow in a pro competition when he plays at blind side in the Celtic League game against The Borders at Hughenden tomorrow evening (ko 7.30pm).

Steve's one previous league appearance was as a replacement in the Swansea match against Ospreys five weeks ago.

Steve makes up a completely recast back row along with John Beattie and Andrew Wilson.

Glasgow have lost no fewer than 11 of the squad who were on duty for the match in Toulouse. Sean Lamont, Andrew Henderson, Andy Craig, Graeme Morrison, Dan Parks, Gordon Bulloch, Jon Petrie, and Donnie Macfadyen are with the Scotland squad. Kevin Tkachuk has joined Canada's squad for internationals against Italy and England. Cammy Mather has a leg injury, and Lee Harrison is ill.

Only Kenny Logan, Sam Pinder, and the locks, Andy Hall and Dan Turner, remain in last week's starting positions whereas Rory Kerry has switched from full back to the left wing. Kenny will captain the team in Petrie’s absence.

Sean Lamont's brother, Rory, will be at full back for his first competition start, though he played a couple of warm-up games for Glasgow in August. David Millard returns to the starting line-up at outside centre after three replacement appearances this season. Glasgow’s other centre, Gareth Maclure, returns after eight months' absence with a leg injury. His last game was as a replacement in the March game against Munster.
