Andy Henderson thinks Scotland can beat the best
Glasgow's Andy Henderson insists that Scotland can overcome the game's top nations despite losing to Australia for the fifth time in a little over a year at Hampden on Saturday.

Beaten by the Wallabies in the World Cup last year, the Scots then went down twice to the Aussies in their summer tour Down Under. Just over a fortnight ago, Scotland kicked off their autumn Test series with a 31-14 defeat by Eddie Jones' side at Murrayfield before they lost again at the weekend in Glasgow, although the margin of defeat was slightly narrower at 31-17.

But Andy refused to concede that the Scots don't have what it takes to challenge the top-class nations. "We do believe we will beat them one day, absolutely. When we were preparing for the Test games everyone in the squad thought we could win and so we're disappointed that we never won either of the two games.

"In the game at Hampden we played more good rugby in that than in most of the other meetings. We started reasonably and then let it slip away. But they're a quality side and the way they take their opportunities when they get in behind us is a lesson we can learn.

"Mike Blair and Chris Cusiter both made breaks and we couldn't capitalise on those and that's one area we can improve on, and if we can improve on little things like that then we can close the gap even further."

Scotland finish off their four-game series by returning to Murrayfield on Saturday to take on Tri-Nations champions South Africa.

"It was a bit different to play at Hampden," added Andy. "Coming through Glasgow on the bus was a nice experience, the stadium was fantastic and I enjoyed playing in it, obviously apart from the result.

"But I think Murrayfield is a bit special. It's the home of Scottish rugby and rightly so and I think most of the games should be played there. But I'm looking forward to the South Africa game. From what I've seen they are a very physical side and they base their game on that.

"Their defence is always in your face and they all seem to be really strong tacklers. They are a different side to Australia in that way but every game at this level is pretty tough. They are obviously Tri-Nations champions and I guess coming off a couple of losses they will be pretty keen to finish their tour on a high."

A shame, i couldn't see Scotland games (except from the rugby world cup)
Something i don't anderstand...
I saw the 1/4 final v Australia, and i think Scotland was good in this game.
Even Scotland improves, the last game against Australia is FOR tries to ONE.
Anyway, all the news i have is the team is building a better rugby than with TELFER/MACGEECHAN.

I'm looking forward to watching them in the six nations.

It's not a bad critic,
And i will support Scotland all the time.
