Posted by Julian on December 2, 2004 08:54 AM | Reply to this comment The situation gets more ridiculous every day. In todays Herald, (can't find the article online), the Scarletts manager is reported to be delighted that Euan is available on Sunday. "The Llanelli manager said he was baffled by the red card shown to the player in the first place, and was even more astonished when Murray was banned for 12 weeks. 'We are quite happy that the Glasgow guy is being allowed to play because as far as we are concerned, he didn't do anything wrong' said Buchanan. 'We looked at the video from all angles and it shows nothing, while none of our lads was aware of anything untoward going on. It seems the referee was the only man who spotted something and the lad was punished in a way-over-the-top manner. The 12 week ban was plain crazy. Even if he *had* stood on one of our fellows, it was too much. I hope he and Glasgow will get it sorted out next week'" So, who exactly is the wronged party? Surely a crime has to have a victim. Posted by Vicki on December 2, 2004 02:08 PM | Reply to this comment I can't believe it!!! The opposition saying they weren't stamped on, and yet Euan is still having to fight to have a 12 week ban overturned. How can the SRU/disciplinary board possibly uphold a ban now? Posted by Donald on December 2, 2004 09:06 PM | Reply to this comment It's the SRU they can do anything they like and believe me they will on this one as they are, rightly, being held up to public ridicule. It has always been regarded as a hanging offence to even contemplate questioning a sending off - would result in a lengthier ban straight off. Fairness does not enter the equation as referees are never wrong and would embellish their report of an incident.
