Toulouse wary of Glasgow weather

Can't think why Toulouse are worried about the Scottish climate!
Toulouse chief Guy Noves fear's his team's hopes of recapturing the Heineken Cup could be blown off course by the Glasgow weather.

Toulouse arrive in Glasgow tomorrow and Noves admitted that the elements may prove to be a factor in Friday's clash at Hughenden.

He told today's Metro: "We are used to playing in cold conditions at this time of the year but it is usually also dry and bright. We know how wet and windy it can be in Scotland and that would be a big danger to us.

"We remember what happened to us against Edinburgh in last season's Heineken Cup. Although the circumstances were different, the defeat underlined how hard it can be to win on hostile territory."

The Night Hawks Beat Toulouse

With the arrival of Toulose in Glasgow in January it is worth recalling that less than five years ago Glasgow Hawks in their first season led by David Wilson took on and beat the French side at Old Anniesland on the eve of the French international.
The Herald reported that the match was watched by Newcastle chiefs Sir John Hall and Rob Andrew who were underlining their interest in Glenn Metcalfe as a possible replacement for transfer listed Lion Tim Stimpson.
Hawks scorers that memorable night were Tommy Hayes 2t,3c,2p Mike Beckham 1t,Derek Stark 2t.
The Hawks Squad on this occasion was;Glenn Metcalfe(Castres),Derek Stark(retd),Chris Simmers(retd)David Wilson(coaching GHA)Ally Common(playing in Italy)Tommy Hayes(playing at Worcester,Cammy Little,Mike Blackie(with Hill/Jord)Chris Docherty,Mike Beckham (went to play with Leeds)Scott Hutton(GHK),Chas Afuakwah(coaching Accies)Fergus Wallace(coaching at Hawks)Gordon Mackay(coaching Accies)Murray Wallace(in USA),Matt McGrandles(with Stirling Co)Liam MacIntyre,Kevin Horton(back with Accies),Steve Begley,Andy Ness(retd)George Breckenridge(coaching )Stuart Simmers(now with Strathendrick

It is amazing looking at the Hawks team that not one of them is in the Glasgow squad let alone the first team. They say that the average professional career of a rugby player is now one season !!!

As for Guy Noves I don't think he will be complaining if the weather is foul, as will give them the perfect excuse to use one of Toulouse specialities, stuffing the ball up the jersey and rumbling forward. As we all know Glasgow not the best at defending rolling mauls.

I remember when Guy Noves complained about the bad welcome they had in Edinburgh last season.
Actually, I think Noves doesn't like lose against a team which is lower ranked.
He is talking about the weather in south of France at this time of the year cold, dry and bright,
There is rain in winter, even in the south!!!
Anyway, Toulouse has a very strog pack, they have the reputation to have a lively game with backs line,
But i tell you they won a lot of french championship titles with a game completely closed.
They know the way to win,

All my support is for Glasgow, if they have pride and stenght on the pitch, and play the match like a real international, for 90 mns
