Scots 'will avoid wooden spoon'

Jon Petrie thinks Scotland can avoid another wooden spoon season
Glasgow's Jon Petrie is confident Scotland will not be facing England at the end of the season for the Six Nations wooden spoon.

Both sides have lost their opening two encounters this season.

But Jon said: "We have tough games coming up, but I am confident that we can set the record straight before we come to face England.

"It is going to be a big test for us and Italy are a good side, but they got beat by Wales."

The Welsh are also in opposition before the Calcutta Cup match at Twickenham.

"It's a good test of strength for us as players to come back and I am pretty confident we can do that," said Jon after the weekend defeat by Ireland.

"We put great pressure on ourselves and there is also pressure from the people who come and watch us.

"It's important that we start winning and we have to start doing that as soon as possible."

Glad to see JP so upbeat. However, I remain to be convinced. I think Italy are now on an even par with Scotland.

There's nothing wrong with a positive attitude! ..JP always has that..makes him a great captain in my book. His try at Murrayfield was just reward. Remember the good and not the bad!

Absolutely not...however in fairness, I have been predicting these results since the RWC warm up in Cardiff. Ask IPA!
