The Scotland skipper writes about Saturday's game in his BBC Column.
"Beating Italy is a massive weight off our shoulders and hopefully we can prove it is a major turning point for Scottish rugby.
"The guys are going about the training ground in Stirling with smiles on their faces, no longer fearing the video analysis of the last match from the coaches.
"A lot of them had never won at Murrayfield or in the Six Nations and there was a bit of anxiety in training before the game.
"But we can leave that behind us and look forward to the visit of Wales a week on Sunday.
"It will be a great occasion as their victory over France in Paris will guarantee a sell-out.
"Wales will arrive full of confidence as they are pretty much favourites for the Grand Slam.
"It will be very tough for us, but ending our run in the Six Nations without a win will allow us to play more relaxed rugby.
"And the bulk of the pressure will be on Wales, much as it was in 2001, when Ireland came here looking for a victory to clinch the championship and we beat them."
