Weight off Scotland's shoulders

Gordon Bulloch thinks Saturday's victory has lifted a weight from his player shoulders
Gordon Bulloch thinks Saturday's grim victory over Italy has lifted a huge weight from the shoulders of Scotland's players.

The Scotland skipper writes about Saturday's game in his BBC Column.

"Beating Italy is a massive weight off our shoulders and hopefully we can prove it is a major turning point for Scottish rugby.

"The guys are going about the training ground in Stirling with smiles on their faces, no longer fearing the video analysis of the last match from the coaches.

"A lot of them had never won at Murrayfield or in the Six Nations and there was a bit of anxiety in training before the game.

"But we can leave that behind us and look forward to the visit of Wales a week on Sunday.

"It will be a great occasion as their victory over France in Paris will guarantee a sell-out.

"Wales will arrive full of confidence as they are pretty much favourites for the Grand Slam.

"It will be very tough for us, but ending our run in the Six Nations without a win will allow us to play more relaxed rugby.

"And the bulk of the pressure will be on Wales, much as it was in 2001, when Ireland came here looking for a victory to clinch the championship and we beat them."

Sorry not linked with this article.
Just a word about some players who we don't talk a lot on this site.
I'm french so, not Edinbugger fan or Borders fan.
You see Scotland can provide High profiles.

Good for Gordon, and his positive comments. Week after week all we read are negative comments from so-called fans. The men have tried hard, and have faltered at times. They have also played well, and made Australia look ordinary. They've also been cheated out of a win against the French. The Ozzies went through some tough times too, but player and coach persistency, and positive support from the fans finally won the day.

I support Scotland, and the players worked hard.
It's not a reason for not beeing realistic in term of results.
In the press, MW very often said Scotland has improved from the last world cup.
I think their performance in the 1/4 final wasn't bad at all.
From the WC they played a lot against Australia, and i'm sorry the results are the same, and Scotland still struggle to score tries.
A word about the game not only about the result.
Example:
I prefered the french performance against Wales even they lost than the game in England.
I agree, the fans and supporters have to be behind their team, but some critics are because they love their team and they want to see their team marvellous.
