No explanation for second-half slump

Scott Lawson can't explain Glasgow's second-half slump
Glasgow's Scott Lawson last night admitted his side were totally clueless after their humiliating defeat by Ulster in rugby's Celtic League on Friday.

The Ravenhill showdown had been billed by coach Hugh Campbell as his team's most important match of the season.

But after going in at half-time with the scores tied at 3-3 Glasgow crumpled and leaked 27 points without reply. Hooker Scott said in today's Sunday Mail: "We have no idea what went wrong. The effort in the first half had been fantastic and we were in with a real shout.

"Ulster certainly upped their game and we started to make mistakes that proved crucial. Once we were behind we were playing catch-up but we never looked like actually catching them up."

Bloody disgreceful performance, players should be ashamed of themselves, doesn't actually encourage you to support your team away from home when they give a woeful performance like that, complete surrender without a fight!

Have to agree. There were a couple of decisions went against Glasgow early in the 2nd half but the chins were on the chest and any sign of a fight evaporated.

It was highly disappointing to see the heads go down, another case of the players not playing under the same presure as those at teams like Ulster, where expectations are far higher. What was also disappointing, was that so many of the players looked physically shattered towards the end of the game. One factor I feel may have contributed to this was the highy professional SRU flying the players in a few hours before kick-off and flying them back straight after the game.

On another note well done to Andy Hall and Scott Lawson for coming into the beer tent after the game to thank the travelling fans for comming over and apologise for the result. It says a lot for the two of them and their attitude towards fans, the question is should this be left up to two of our younger players, one who's only a second year pro. What happened to more experienced players like Cammie Mather and Kenny Logaon, who have both Captained the side.

I'm not knocking the gesture, it was big of the guys. However I think the presence of Andy's dad and Scott's mum and dad might have had a bit to do with it. I wouldn't be too hard on the other guys.

Sorry Phall, Andy always has a chat. Ditto Bevvy.

Agree with that. Come on the rest of the guys ..get out and meet your supporters (difficult, but even more important, after a defeat!)
