Scott will be cheered on by a couple on coachloads of fans from Biggar where he grew up and played before moving to Melrose and then Glasgow. Scott hasn't forgotten where it all started and can still be found at the club helping out with the under-18s, whenever he has a minute to spare.
Founded in 1975, Biggar have produced professionals such as Ally Warnock and Darren Burns, but Scott will be the first one to have risen all the way into Scotland colours.
"I am proud to come from Biggar, and I think that Biggar is proud that I've been given a big chance on Tuesday," said Scott in today's Scotland on Sunday. "There is quite a buzz about the club right now."
With Leeds-bound Gordon Bulloch on duty with the British and Irish Lions, Scott has the chance to stake his claim for a first cap 12 days later in Bucharest against Romania. Scott said in today's Sunday Times: "The Barbarians game should suit me down to the ground, fast and open. Playing for Scotland was always a dream. I knew that, with Gordon Bulloch being with the Lions, there was an opening and I'm happy with the way things are going.
"I know I am ready for this. Playing against Leinster, with their six Lions in the squad, I did not feel overawed at all. There comes a time when you feel, 'I have to go and dominate these people'. It is a massive step up but I aim to take my chance when it comes."
