Jon Petrie skippers Scotland against the Barbarians at Pittodrie
New Scotland skipper Jon Petrie thinks fans in the north are in for a treat when Scotland take on the Barbarians at Pittodrie, Aberdeen tonight.

In his article in today's edition of The Herald the Glasgow skipper claims fans can look forward to an exciting game against a star-studded Barbarians line-up.

"There seems to be a palpable excitement in Aberdeen at the moment. I think it's great that the Scottish Rugby Union have embraced the concept of taking these matches out to different stadiums around the country.

"It would be fair to say that nobody was sure if it would work when we went to Perth to play Japan in the autumn, but that proved to be an enormous success. I don't think that there is any uncertainty about the merits of these ventures, now.

"I was along at a kids' tournament at Rubislaw the other morning, at which there were hundreds of people, and the reaction of everyone there convinced me that there is a place up north for big-time rugby.

"It must be difficult to follow Scotland when the matches are usually so far away, so everybody seems to be enthused about this game, which should create a brilliant atmosphere.
