Gordon Bulloch led the midweek Lions to another victory over Auckland Blues
Midweek captain Gordon Bulloch hailed the effort of his Lions side after they kept their unbeaten record intact courtesy of a 17-13 victory over Auckland.

Following the 48-18 second Test defeat to the All Blacks last Saturday, morale in the Lions camp was low but Gordon's men provided some respite for the tourists with a dominant forward display.

"We are over the moon with the win, the whole squad, not just the 22 guys (involved today)," Gordon told Sky Sports.

"It was a great performance. The guys were running on empty towards the end. To get a win at a full Eden Park is a great achievement.

"They have given everything to the jersey and I am proud man to lead them off tonight.

"With 20 minutes to go we were up against it. They scored a great attacking try and we started to miss a few tackles but we dug deep, the character of the team came out and we got a great win.

"It was a very proud moment, one of the proudest moments of my life to lead the `midweek massive'.

"It's been a great time, we had a great tour and really enjoyed it. We have played some good rugby and to finish it off tonight with a win at Eden Park is great."

Good for him - led the midweek team well and been very unfortunate to miss out on a Test place, so far.
