Glasgow Warriors fixtures have been announced today in the Magners League – the new name for the Celtic League.

Celtic Rugby today announced their fixture list for the season alongside the announcement of their new title sponsors, Magners Irish Cider. This will see the competition named as the 'Magners League' until 2008.

Glasgows opening match sees the Newport Gwent Dragons travel north on the first weekend in September. The Warriors will follow that the next weekend with a trip to Wales to face Llanelli Scarlets.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: "In a league like this every game is tough. We know what position we're starting from and we're working hard on our pre-season preparations.

The Dragons will be ear-marking their trip to Glasgow as a win but with our new signings and the way our players have responded to the challenges put to them, we're really confident and excited about what's to come here at The Warriors. We're feeling good and are ready to rise to the challenge."

David Jordan, Director of Celtic Rugby said: "The decision by Magners to partner with Celtic Rugby demonstrates that the strategic review that we undertook has delivered success. Our partnership with Magners is an exciting one and we look forward to working together over the coming years. Magners share our vision for the future of the competition and to have them as our inaugural title sponsor is a huge endorsement of the competition."

The end to the season looks a bit of a killer. Won't be easy on the team, either.

do we know where we will be plaving yet?
I hope it's Hughenden and it will be Fridays!
That would put the last 3 years nonsense behind us, and we could return to "Think Friday think rugby!"

It would be good but there is more chance of them winning the Heiniken Cup this year than playing in Huhenden on Friday nights.
I just hope whereever it is doesn't change from week to week at a moments notice, and there is a bar! Oh, and we're allowed to stand and cheer.

Please please play the home fixtures at a rugby ground - preferably Hughenden! Firhill was a disaster for children watching the matches, too far away from the action and the players, and the kids are the future of the game!!

Isn't the Leinster game, in Dublin, the weekend of the Romania game?
last month seems a bit of a swine if you wanted to travel.
