Burnbrae on Warriors' shortlist

Burnbrae will host Glasgow's pre-season match with Newcastle
West Of Scotland's Burnbrae will play host to Glasgow's pre-season friendly with Newcastle Falcons next month and today's Herald reports that the ground could be the Warriors' new home.

Warriors officials yesterday confirmed that the Milngavie ground is among the contenders to house an organisation that has been subjected to a nomadic existence in recent years.

"We have a shortlist of grounds that we are considering using for the coming season and Burnbrae is among them," said a club spokesperson in The Herald.

"We are hoping to be able to announce a decision by the end of this week."

And don't move around during the season OR gives us plenty of notice if there has to be a change of venue.

Quick question. How easy is it to get to Burnbrae by public transport?

Wasn't concerned for myself, since coming from Cumbernauld I'd be driving anyway. Was more concerned for those that thought Firhill was difficult to get to by public transport, wasn't sure about travelling out to Milngavie.

I thought that CALA had purchased the land at Burnbrae for hooses! Although I also understand that CALA are going to build a new ground for West as part of the deal. So maybe we can piggyback onto this deal and get a nice new home too.

There is a deal in place with CALA, but we won't be moving for at least a couple of years. The planning process is veeeeery drawn out.

This would be great for me - I could walk to the games!

Go West - Go Warriors!!

Burnbrae should allow the faithful to get the atmosphere back to something like Hughenden. The acid test will be how many of us renew our season tickets. For me, there is no way I will renew our season tickets for Firhill, but I will happily do it for Burnbrae, even although it doubles my travel. If the Warriors do play at a stadium that keeps the money circulating in our own game...we should support them wholeheartedly.

This would be brilliant. A cosy venue that is Rugby orientated, with a supply of beer that is simple to get to. I'd be a happy man.
