Scotland seven in the hunt

Thom Evans was on target for Scotland
Scotland are in the hunt for a quarter-final place in the USA Sevens after a win and a loss in their opening two games.

Scotland lost a difficult opening game 57-5 to last years IRB Sevens World Series champions Fiji. Scotland's only try came from Ben Addison.

However, the Scots brought themselves back in the hunt for a quarter-final place with a memorable 19-14 win over Argentina 7s.

The result, which saw tries from Thom Evans, Ben Addison and Sean Crombie, elated head coach Stephen Gemmell.

"It was a great win but they scored two late tries just before the end which we shouldn't have allowed.

"A win against the West Indies should secure us a vital quarter-final place for tomorrow."

Mike Adamson converted two of Scotland's three tries.

Scotland beat the West Indies in their last pool match so qualify for the quarters of the cup competition where they plast weeks overall winners Samoa.
At least there is sign of improvement - 1st two tournaments this year we effectively finished in the bottom 2, last week we moved up a place, but this week we are into the top 8 - with some very young players in the team - Chris Kinloch, 18, and Paul Loudon, 17
Well done
