One of the competition's greatest vocal champions is Justin Marshall - the Ospreys scrum-half, an All-Black legend and, luckily for Glasgow, Daryl's cousin.
Daryl told The Glaswegian: "Justin is my cousin and a good friend of mine. I spoke to him about the Magners League and he had nothing but praise for it.
"He said all the teams like to play fast, flowing rugby plus the threat of relegation is not hanging over your head.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of the English Premiership having relegation - you do get some exciting finishes at the bottom end as well as the top - but if you are at the wrong end of the table come Christmas, you do err towards a more cautious approach.
"Teams tighten up and abandon an attacking expansive game which leads to dull matches with low scores - the Magners League benefits from no relegation, hence you see a lot of exciting games.
"I had offers from a number of English teams but I didn't want to stay in the Premiership because 30 games a season is too many. The Magners League only has 18 so that was a huge factor in my coming here."
With 19 caps for New Zealand, Daryl has had an impressive career and he insists he still has much to offer Glasgow.
"I enjoy the pressure of being a former All-Black. I enjoy the reputation that comes with it and it spurs me on to perform.
"I'm certainly not up here to wile away my career and can assure the fans I'll be giving my all for the team while I'm here."
