Dan gives due credit to the Warriors pack

Dan praises the effort of the Glasgow forwards
While praise was being heaped on Dan Parks for his performance on Friday night, he insists the forwards that made the difference against Ulster.

Stand-off Dan Parks booted 20 points in the 25-6 Magners League triumph over Ulster at Firhill, a result which will act as a confidence booster in the build up to today's Heineken Cup opener against Saracens at Vicarage Road.

However, he stressed that the success was sparked by the brilliant defence of the Warriors. Parksy said: "The tackling was immense and the bottom line was that Ulster were not allowed to impose themselves on the game.

"The forwards in particular put in a tremendous shift and we have definitely given ourselves a platform for the challenge of facing Sarries."

Dan was echoed to a degree by coach Sean Lineen, who declared: "Individually, I was satisfied with a lot of displays.

"Moray Low was outstanding, Johnnie Beattie had a really good game and John Barclay was his usual effective self. And in the backline, other than Dan, Bernie Stortoni was again immense at 15.

"But collectively, we still have a power of work to do in attack. We are not being ruthless enough at the breakdown.

"There is no doubt that we will have to sharpen up if we are to be a threat on the European stage."

Lineen added: "We have acquired the habit of winning ugly, however there is a lot more to come from this group of guys.

"We have two of the quickest wingers in the business and we must find a way to get them much more involved."
