And the Glasgow squad are under no illusions as to the importance of the opening game against old foes Sarries.
"This is a huge game, one that will set the tone for the rest of the championship, just as it did when we played them last season,” said Sean Lineen in The Times. "We have to go down there and focus totally on this game, it is the be-all and end-all of our campaign.
"I have seen with the players all week that the excitement level is up, the fear factor is there as well, as it has to be. We have to go down there and play against one of the form teams of Europe, so we have to channel that fear along with the excitement and come up with a game that can beat them."
Skipper Alastair Kellock thinks that if Glasgow can get the set-piece right then they have an excellent chance of upsetting the odds. "If we can get the ball to them, then we have the backs to score," he said. "We know it is a good pitch and most of our guys have played down there at some point. If we can get good ball, then we have exciting backs, the back three are as fast as any in this competition."
