The Scotland club international playmaker is part of Melrose's championship-winning side and has been touted regularly as a player deserving of a step-up into the Scottish pro ranks, but at the age of 25 he believed his chance might have gone.
However, Glasgow coach Sean Lineen confirmed to the Scotsman: "We are bringing Scott over for a look at him in our training environment, and, while we are making no commitments yet, I wouldn't be doing that if I didn't rate him highly.
"He is a talented player who can control a game, is in good shape and is a decent lad with a good, grounded attitude. I have been looking at various options to strengthen the squad for next season and I am always looking at club players in Scotland.
"The club game has stepped up in the last couple of seasons with the British and Irish Cup and the top clubs are improving each season.
"We have brought good players from the club game through each year but it does mean we have a lot of young boys who are still learning. Scott is 25 and has good experience that could complement the younger players. Right now it's one step at a time."
