The Warriors have submitted their 38-man squad for the pool phase of this season's Heineken Cup to tournament organisers ERC.

Comprising 17 backs and 21 forwards, the squad will tackle Pool 4 fixtures against Northampton Saints, Ulster and Castres.

Head coach Gregor Townsend told www.glasgowwarriors.org: “It’s a sign of the level of strength in depth we have that 13 players who will have a massive role to play for us across the season aren’t included in this squad.

“The Heineken Cup is a great competition and we’ll be going all out to hit the ground running in our pool when the time comes. For now, though, the focus is firmly on continuing our positive form in the RaboDirect PRO12 in our next two games against Zebre and Cardiff Blues.”

Fraser Brown, the Heriot’s player who was previously attached to Edinburgh Rugby, will provide additional hooker cover in the squad.

Having named their 38-man squads, clubs may select one additional player during the course of the pool stages. The nominated additional player will replace a registered member of the club's squad and no club will exceed 38 players at any time during the pool stages.

The de-registered player may return to the squad at a later date during the pool stages and replace the additional player.

The Warriors’ Pool 4 campaign begins with an away game against Northampton Saints on Sunday 14 October (ko 12.45pm), before 2012 finalists Ulster come to Scotstoun Stadium on Friday 19 October (ko 8.00pm).
