Jon, the latest Warrior to commit to another two seasons at Scotstoun, told the Scotsman: “I’ve been looking to make the move for the last year or so.
“Obviously I can still play loosehead but I’d like to focus more on the tighthead.
“I just think I’m better suited for it. Being in the professional set-up and learning more about scrummaging, the technical side and the ‘dark arts’, there is more onus on the tighthead; he is the cornerstone of the scrum.
“If we’re dominant in scrums the loosehead might get the pat on the back for being disruptive but that doesn’t happen without the tighthead being absolutely solid. I enjoy my strength work and put a big focus on that, and I think I can put it to better use at tighthead.”
